This week: a music performance that defies cultural barriers

[ad_1]

“Black Violin: Impossible Tour” will make a stop at Belk Theater on Tuesday.

The Grammy-nominated group, led by string players Wil B. and Kev Marcus, seeks to defy stereotypes and break down cultural barriers with their unique blend of classical and hip-hop music.

Black Violin has written music for notable television shows and has appeared on “The Tonight Show” and “Ellen.”

Kanye West, Aerosmith, WuTang Clan, Wyclef Jean and Alicia Keys are among the musicians with whom the group has collaborated.

In 2021, Black Violin performed for more than 100,000 students in the United States and Europe in efforts to support arts education in struggling schools in underserved communities.

Showtime starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on Blumenthal’s website.
