15-year-old boy dead after being shot in north Charlotte

A 15-year-old boy has died after he was shot Friday in the north Charlotte.
According to a statement by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, at 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon in the 6700 block of Mallard Park Drive.
When officers arrived, they found the boy with an apparent gunshot wound lying outside near apartments in the area.
The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. CMPD was informed on Sunday that he had died.

Authorities have not released the name of the victim.
